July 28th, 2011

Toronto, Canada - The NHL will conduct its second annual Research, Development and Orientation Camp in Toronto Aug. 16-17, inviting the top 2012 NHL draft prospects to participate.

South Boston, Mass. native Cameron Darcy, a former standout with Dexter School before going to Ann Arbor, Mich. last season to join the U.S. National Team Development Program, is the lone New England representative of the 36 players attending.

Darcy, who helped lead Dexter to the 2010 small school prep championship game before bowing out against Kimball Union Academy (KUA) in double overtime, is a gifted scoring forward with offensive hockey sense and soft hands. In 37 USHL games with the Under-17 team, Darcy scored 9 goals and 13 points. He is projected to play a more prominent role this year with the Under-18 squad. The Northeastern recruit helped Team USA to the championship game at the World Under-17 Challenge last January in Winnipeg.

The RDO camp experiments with proposed rule changes, while also allowing NHL teams and scouts to get a quick look at the players who are projected to be the high achievers this season in their draft years.

Hooksett, NH - The Beantown Bullies Junior Major team heads up to Hooksett, NH this weekend June 3-5 to take on some of the best talent on the East Coast in the NH Monarchs Summer Showdown. The team is led by a trio of Division 1 college recruits - '92 forward Gunnar Hughes (St. Lawrence University), '93 forward Alex Gacek (Miami-Ohio) and '94 forward Danny O'Regan (Boston University). Also leading the way is Norwich University star '90 Kyle Thomas whos will be attending the Minnesota Wild's NHL Rookie Camp this summer.

Despite allowing seven goals, Steve Messina made 41 stops, including several spectacular saves to keep the Polar Bears in contention and finished with a personal record of 11-4-0.

Players to keep an eye on this weekend. '94 Ross Olsson (Williston North Hampton), a power forward in the making at 6'4 210lbs. Ross is quickly making a name for himself in a Bullies uniform and looks to be an NHL prospect for 2013 as he is a late DOB. '93 speedster Mike Najjar (Belmont Hill) has shown why he is drawing Div 1 attention with his competitiveness and excellent hockey sense. You want toughness combined with skill; keep an eye on '94 forward Sam Kurker (St John Prep) he is drawing some serious Div 1 offers. OUR MISSION STATEMENT

At Ward Hockey Schools our goal is to offer a more privatized hockey school for the young player looking to develop their skills and hockey sense. We specialize in a more 1 on 1 based hockey school, by keeping our numbers low and development high. Our game situation drills will challenge each player and help them better understand the game. Understanding the game of hockey is the first step, Bringing that knowledge to the game is the second and making the right decisions on the ice is the result. Players must learn to play with confidence and passion it this game to be successful. All of our schools also included Off-Ice training as well, players must learn in this day and age of hockey, commitment to strength, speed and agility training will skyrocket their game past their peers. You will leave this program a better, smarter hockey player.
